In no particular order, here's what those of us who help companies identify and manage their employer brand—have seen in 2011.
1. Leadership is getting involved
It used to be that any employer brand project started and stopped in the talent acquisition department with little participation from or exposure to company leadership. That's changed. Executive sponsorship is the norm and the expectation is that leadership not only supports the engagement but participates in it as well.

Supreme Court Ruling Only Part of Healthcare Drama
Now that the Supreme Court has formally agreed to review the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, we'll know by the end of June 2012 if the healthcare overhaul will remain law. But, regardless of the final ruling, the law has shown that we must fix healthcare in this country. The ramifications of that fact have already impacted the way we recruit and retain and the different types of professionals which are now needed.

What's Your Measuring Stick?
It's that time of year again. The time when we all take a moment (and really, probably not more than a moment) to reflect on the past year and everything we've accomplished. When you take that moment, how good do you feel about those accomplishments? Are they anecdotal, qualitative or quantitative? What was your measure of improvement? Is this something that you can build upon for next year? After all, our minimal effort at reflection is primarily driven by our need to lay out the goals and objectives for the coming year.
More and more, we're driven to be results- and metrics oriented, but without some baseline...
