This month, Ron discusses the mobile universe.
As many of you know and those who have seen me contribute to this column before, I've been told I have an addiction to my mobile phone. Last month, Forrester Research released a Global Mobile Behaviors study and now there's an official moniker for those of us who, how should I put this…, use our mobile phones to literally manage our lives.

Delivering An Effective Message
|
 |
Stacey Lagala
Vice President, Global Client Strategy |
In today's world of constant communication, media penetration and digital advancements, a person could feel a bit, well, overwhelmed. There are so many ways to reach someone. Me? I have one home phone, one work phone, two mobile phones, one Skype account, two electronic fax numbers, five active social media profiles, six email addresses, six instant messaging accounts. . . and a partridge in a pear tree. . . otherwise known as Twitter. So how does someone get my attention? And, how do I stay engaged? And, what communication influences my decisions? A starting point is messaging relevance.

Why It's Still Tough to Fill Mission Critical Roles in a Tough Economy And What You Can Do About It

Why can't government agencies and contractors get the people they need? It's not just freezes or budget cuts or the fact that your competitors can outbid you. And it may not even be the dearth of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) candidates. In honor of the times, I decided to do my own straw poll to evaluate the frustrated new graduate RNs that are still finding it rather difficult to obtain jobs. We have heard the "shortage" word for many years and know the forecast of the shortages ahead. Yet, if you share those numbers with new graduates—they would have a hard time believing it.
Recently, I sent out a very simple 4-question survey to 20 recruiters that I know from around the country. Simple, quick and good information for this article! Responses came in from the West, Midwest, South, Southeast and the Northeast. Although straw poll results certainly aren't statistically valid, the results definitely yielded some promising answers and hope for the new graduates of the future.

2020 Forecast for
Financial Service Sector
Kurt Dudycha
Vice President, Client Strategy
According to the "Intuit 2020 Report: The Future of Financial Services," the next decade will see a radical transformation in the financial services industry.
Increased industry consolidation combined with new business and even new competition from non-traditional competitors, will change the landscape dramatically in the coming years. All this is due to increased regulatory oversight and measures as the impact from the Great Recession will continue for some time. Walmart, for example, now offers an expanding array of financial products including small business and consumer credit, not to mention consumer financial services.
