Senior Vice President, Creative and Digital

|
This month Lindsay shows that the Federal Government, which once lagged behind in digital communications, now leads the way with data visualization.
In the beginning, government created the Internet. But when web browsers caught on in the mid-1990s, graphics leadership soon passed to private enterprise and innovative non-profits. Yet the U. S. Federal government has the story that affects more than 300 million people, and two new websites are telling it in unprecedented ways. Using data visualization, Recovery.gov and Treasury.gov in collaboration with TMP Government are empowering citizens to understand complex issues. In the process, these sites are winning awards and establishing practices helpful to all web designers.
This transformation has happened thanks to the confluence of several factors: Strong concerns about the economy have made Americans increasingly data conscious.

Reaching the right candidates in today's environment requires more than posting to job boards, more than taking advantage of job aggregators and more than even purchasing keywords or optimizing for organic search results. TalentBrew Banner Advertising
In order to extend the reach of your jobs, while providing your candidates with the optimal brand and user experience, TMP has created the TalentBrew Banner Advertising program. This allows your jobs to be taken directly from your job database and advertised across a targeted network of sites.

Steve Ehrlich Serves As Panelist for Five O'Clock Club
Steve Ehrlich, Global Vice President of Client Development
On Friday, March 18, Steve Ehrlich, TMP's Global Vice President of Client Development, served as a panelist at a breakfast event hosted by the Five O'Clock Club in New York. The event titled How Social Media Affects HR: Uses, Abuses and Self-Protection attracted a full house of HR professionals. Steve was joined on the panel by Jim Flynn, social media legal expert and a member of the Litigation and Labor and Employment Practices of the national law firm of EpsteinBeckerGreen as well as by Sien Avalos, Enterprise Compliance Manager for Becton Dickinson.
The conversation touched upon the reality of employees being tuned into social media all day and how employers can leverage social media properly. Employer Value Proposition: A Recipe for Success
Lori Charest
VP, Brand Strategy and Employee Engagement

Have you ever heard of Nugget Market? I haven't and unless you live in Northern California and shop at one of their supermarkets, you probably haven't either. But check out Yelp and you'll see rave reviews for their superior customer service and quality food products.
Customers seem to love Nugget Market. But that isn't enough to get on Fortune Magazine's 2011 list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. And Nugget Market is not just on the list, but ranked #8. That's right, Nugget Market is keeping company with the big brands like SAS (#1), Boston Consulting Group (#2), Wegmans Food Markets (#3) and Google (#4).
According to Fortune, Nugget Market has none of the perks you'll find at some of the other companies who made the list: No onsite fitness center or child care service; no telecommuting or job sharing programs.
So what does Nugget Market offer that makes their Employer Value Proposition so enticing?
Excellent health benefits for one. Spot bonuses. Product discounts. But beyond the "tangible" aspects, what are those "intangibles" that really engage their workforce?

Branding the Federal Government, Part Three: A Bottom-Up Process for Showing the Value of the Federal Government
The first two articles in this series addressed an issue raised by Harper's Magazine on the eve of Super Bowl XLV. With the image of the Federal government at a low, how could a TV commercial at the Super Bowl uplift the government's brand? The article also spoke to a paradox: Americans tend to like specific agencies and the services they provide. However, they do not confer this approval and even enthusiasm on the "parent company" that makes it all happen.
The "solution" that Harper's proposed was, of course, highly unlikely. Capitol Hill is waging battles over discretionary spending in existing programs. Meanwhile, according to the trade journal Ad Age, NBC is already musing about raising the cost of a 30-second spot for next year's Super Bowl to $3.5 million. At the moment, that money might seem better spent or even saved.

The Challenge of Change
|
Kathleen Shaw, RN
VP, Client Strategy
The TMP Worldwide Headquarters recently moved to an amazing new location on Broad Street in New York City. The new space offers a sweeping view of the New York Harbor including a view of Lady Liberty, a dazzling array of new and enticing restaurants, and a historical and vibrant new neighborhood. Despite the excitement of the change, the move generated mixed feelings for me. My routine was different, things weren't where they use to be, and reliable familiarity was gone. As a whole I welcome the change but, my initial reaction caused me to ponder the overall experience of change as it relates to our world of recruitment.
The pace of workforce staffing is changing. Accenture recently conducted an internationally based report; "The High Performance Workforce Study 2010".The report offers interesting information with a broad perspective regarding future workforce development.

On March, 29, Greta Sherman, Sr. Vice President, Healthcare Strategy hosted a webinar entitled "Where Is Recruitment A Year after Healthcare Reform?" Greta focused on the fact that it has been nearly a year since the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) became law and in this short span of time, we are already experiencing the evolution of healthcare reform in terms of recruitment and retention. As a follow-up to last year's Healthcare Reform webinar, this session explored the PPACA's surprising impact on how we recruit. Greta addressed issues including: why are physical therapists, lab professionals and mammographers so hard to find and hire?
