TMP Worldwide Attends ERE San Diego
TMP attended ERE San Diego held at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina on March 16-17, 2010. There was great energy among the attendees (many of who traveled from as far away as Europe to attend the show) who were happy to put 2009 behind them and focus on a much brighter 2010. Social media was an integral part of the conference with tweets, status updates, blog posts and online connections happening day and night. Many new and old friends were seen on the busy tradeshow floor that was bustling with exhibitors promoting the latest recruitment technologies and attendees eager to learn how to keep their sourcing strategies ahead of the next curve.

Let Us Census!
To most, receiving their 2010 Census packet in the mail is probably as exciting as picking out socks in the morning. But for me (and likely anyone else who is heavily involved in market research), it is cause to celebrate. Because while many probably view the survey as a mandatory yet thankless task involving boring questions about their livelihood, I feel it represents the promise of fresh, exciting information about our country and the people that inhabit it, from sea to shining sea. The Census information will weave into all of our daily lives, affecting decisions at the most macro and micro levels.

Success Story
|
Microsoft, the global technology company headquartered in Seattle, developed its Candidate Value Proposition (CVP) utilizing internal resources after conducting thorough research and input sessions with the staffing teams and employees globally. This internal research had been conducted to get employee perspectives about what makes the company unique and to understand what candidates care about when making decisions related to employment.
The resulting CVP framework was a series of candidate statements, with guidance for preferred messages for each region and audience segment. This approach enabled each region to choose the message that suited their market best, but Microsoft recognized a need for more clarity when developing the external message, especially around the area of what differentiates Microsoft as a great place to work. The main themes were combined to create an external message that was a true reflection of the company and its people.
Microsoft approached TMP to conduct research in order to validate that this message resonated on a global level and to conduct additional research in the geographies where the existing messages had not yet been tested. In addition to validating the CVP and messaging, Microsoft also tasked TMP with creating a brand personality to test with the employees and aid in the creative development of a new employer brand for their forthcoming global career site.
