This month, Karin talks about Search Visibility.
A few months back in this column, one of my colleagues addressed the increasing value of search marketing and more specifically, job optimization, to a company's sourcing & recruiting toolkit. Better ROI, more financial flexibility, improved targeting capabilities and job seekers flocking to search engines in droves have enticed many organizations, and quite possibly your own, to give search, especially pay-per-click (PPC) search, a place in your candidate attraction strategy.

Employer Brand strategy?
TMP spreads the word at
Canada's Top 100 Employers Summit.

Success Story
AstraZeneca recognized they needed a stronger presence in the Web 2.0 arena, especially within the world of Social Networking, if they wanted to be top of mind with job seekers in today's recruitment space. TMP recommended targeted cost-per-click Social ads to drive traffic to the AstraZeneca Careers page within Facebook. Social "Fan" ads allow users to become fans of a Facebook Page with just one click. Social ads can also be used to drive traffic from Facebook to your careers website.

INDUSTRY UPDATE:
Technology
Looking Back and Ahead
In some respects 2009 wasn't all bad for technology clients as Money magazine ranked three of the Top Ten Best Jobs in America under the technology umbrella including Systems Engineer at #1, IT Project Manager at #5, and Network Security Consultant at #8(1). This is good news for technology companies wanting to inspire college graduates to start early in technology career paths.
Looking ahead at 2010, positions are estimated to reach similar levels going back one year ago, and will impact certain markets globally, although Technology will not be out of the woods yet in 2010.
