I’m the regional vice president for TMP Worldwide in Calgary, Alberta, a fairly traditional advertising market (i.e., lots of print job ads). I joined TMP almost two years ago and was intrigued by the opportunity to help the organization evolve our business here, a large part of which was helping our existing and new HR clients in Alberta evolve theirs.
At TMP Worldwide, we help businesses develop and implement integrated employer advertising and communication strategies. So a lot of my days are spent delivering presentations and educating organizations on Web 2.0. It’s an eye opener for most here about how things have changed and what tools are actually available to assist. I’ve been sharing information on how job seekers are looking for jobs today, how employers can better engage potential candidates, and how they can engage and retain their own employees, and overall I help our clients better understand what opportunities exist for them to attain their talent attraction and engagement goals today.
Besides the day-to-day activities required to run an agency office, on a regular basis I’m in the market meeting with clients, learning more about their businesses and their challenges as employers, and then developing and recommending the optimal employer and communication strategies that I know will help them succeed.
