Here at TMP, my job is to develop award-winning campaigns, continually wow our clients, inspire my fellow creative team members, and bring ideas to life via print, video, and digital creations. Pretty cool stuff!
My average day goes something like this: Around 9 a.m., I walk to work in an amazing city, then say my morning hellos to my team members. Then I start up my system—both my computer and me—cracking open some caffeine for the day. Next, I usually browse a few websites, such as Creativity Online, to spark some inspiration for my day. Then I sign in to Facebook and IM, and check my work email, project board, and traffic report to help plan tasks for the day. Around 11 a.m., I might concept with my creative team (copywriter and designer), then sketch out the roughs on paper and present to the creative director to get the green light to move forward.
After lunch with my creative team, I might spend some time researching stock photography or break out a camera and lights to snap exactly what I’m looking for. Around mid-afternoon, I put on headphones and turn up Lionel Richie to get my creative juices flowing while I start bringing sketches to the screen. I’ll reference the client’s standards, then lean back and take a look from a distance, making sure they’re all being met. Then it’s time to present my work to the team to bring it to the next level. Next, we take the account team through the creative: presenting, rationalizing, and discussing the details so we are all on the same page. Then I’ll make any needed tweaks and post the creative online to our secure FTP site for client review tomorrow. When it’s 7:15 p.m., it’s time to pack it in and head for home.
